Amateur Radio Station

My name is Stojan, I'm a metallurgical engineer (Dr.-Ing.) and working by a named truck producer. Depending on the season, my different hobbies are becomming priority: high season for HAM radio and electronics is winter and spring, for gardening however it is more summer and autumn.

I have got my first amateur radio license in 1985 as YZ1SR, and was QRV until 1997, with my homemade station for 14MHz, only CW. At this time, all my equipment was homemade (poor man's station): QRP transceiver (4W) with TUBE power amplifier (2x PL504, 100W), electronic keyer with squezze paddle, wire HB9CV beam for 14MHz.

Since 1998, I'm living in Germany. Some 15 years I was QRT, but all the time again and again dreaming at reactivation one day, when the conditions meet. In 2014 the "conditions" became better, so I checked my CW fitness - I was still able to read and give CW at more than 20wpm! So I decided to reactivate in Germany.

In December, 2015 I made the full exam for die A-class again and got my german license as DK4SR. Now I'm glad to be QRV again at home and at my radio club DL0WW (DOK: F24).

My main topic is DXing and contesting in CW. At home, I'm not able to put some "normal" antennas and am working with a small balcony and MagLoop antennas and only QRP.

My MFJ-Magnetic Loop at Balcony and WSPR result with it and KX3 (5W). Under such conditions I'm practicing only CW and FT8.

A lot of my equipment is mobile and suitable for field activities, I'm also working often from my allotment, club or Portable.

Elecraft KX3 with HDSDR and in SOTA-suitcase with LiFePO4-Batery and my special "timble paddle"

For me, HAM radio should always contain some amount of self-construction. The best playground are small projects on QRP, microcontroller technique and small antennas.

My old QRP RIG from 1992, reactivated 2015 (here with iambic paddle, keyer, antenna tuner, SWR-meter (the only one not home made) and frequency counter (second picture - Mani, the assistant of the operator)

My QRP antenna tuner with foil varible capacitors and memory keyer as temporary building with Arduino nano (developed by Dominik DL6ER)

Contesting

My big Passion is Contesting from my Radio Club DL0WW. With the equipment and antenna farm there, but of course also with my contest skills, I could reach some good results:

I hope to meet you on the air.
